Chennai vs Lucknow on April 23

Chennai Super Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. The tournament has entered its second half, and both teams are in the race to qualify for the playoffs this year. They both have seven games left and will be looking to collect as many wins as possible in the upcoming matches. The hosts, Chennai Super Kings, sit in a comfortable position after seven games and are at fourth spot on the league table. They faced defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants, and the bowling was surely one of the weak points in that game. The side may also need to sort out the batting a little bit, with only a couple of players playing with an aggressive intent. Lucknow Super Giants would be confident ahead of this game against the Chennai Super Kings after their win against the same opponent in the last encounter. The side was clinical in all aspects of the game and would also be looking to achieve the same in the upcoming matches.

Best economical pick – One of the most consistent bowlers for the Lucknow Super Giants this season has been Yash Thakur and would be looking to continue his good form in the upcoming game.

Top captains & vice captains – KL Rahul holds the key for the Lucknow Super Giants in the batting department. Coming in as an opener he can build a strong foundation and take them to a big total. Rahul has been scoring runs for his side consistently and has given some solid starts alongside de Kock. In seven matches, he has scored 286 runs. In their last game against the same opposition, he scored 82 runs to guide his team to a brilliant eight-wicket victory. Ruaturaj Gaikwad has had a mixed bag this season. He performed well in the game against KKR and MI. But in other games, the CSK skipper has not been at his best. Gaikwad's consistency is the key for CSK to proceed further in the league. He must improve as a skipper too. To follow him, CSK had an interesting option against LSG in the last game.

Smart pick Ravindra Jadeja is the best spinner for the Chennai-based franchise. He can take crucial wickets in the middle and put his team in the driving seat with his bowling. The left-arm spinner has not had the best of seasons with only four wickets in seven matches. However, with the Chennai pitch supporting spinners, Jadeja will be determined to use it to his advantage.

Cautious Pick Matt Henry had a very poor outing on his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants and was leaking runs for the side in the last game.

My XI – KL Rahul (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Vice-Captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Yash Thakur, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Shivam Dubey, Mustafizur Rahman, MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane
